About the event

Wrexham duo Igloo Hearts got together musically in 2020, incorporating Katie’s classical piano, and James’ acoustic guitar driven influences, into a musical style that is both exciting and beautiful.

They are a married couple who enjoy watching Netflix and writing about all the weirdos from their favourite box sets!

A clever use of classical chordal progressions, and haunting harmonies are at the forefront of their song writing, with comparisons to David Bowie and Kate Bush echoing out from their listeners. ‘McCartney – esque’ was commented by one radio presenter.

They were one of six bands selected from applications open to the whole of Wales, for the recent Focus Wales 2021 ‘Song writing Bootcamp’, working alongside producers such as Cian Ciaran (Super Furry Animals).

They recently played three sets at Focus Wales 2021 in Wrexham, The Knutsford Folk festival, and collaborated with ‘The Innocent’ on their album launch playing alongside the New Sinfonia (Hermon Arts Centre Oswestry)

Igloo Hearts have been featured several times on BBC introducing. Adam Waltons’ (BBC Radio Wales) response to their latest single (FishFood) was ‘Oh My God, that’s really, really good!!’ . Julie Weir (Label head – Sony Music, Music for nations said their voices together gave her ‘goosebumps’.

Their passion is interesting and unexpected song writing, that keeps the listener guessing and engaged, with chord experimentation and ‘ear worm’ melodies.
