About the event

Anthemic melodies are fused together with a combination of strong and soothing harmonies, jazz infused brass sounds and funky bass blending styles of soul, pop, funk, jazz and blues.  Raw, pure and rich in emotional sincerity, Emma’s voice shares resemblances with soulful musical legends such as the rawness of Janis Joplin, dynamic and power of Randy Crawford, and accuracy and warmth of Etta James.

Emma Linney will be performing with a full seven piece band as part of their ‘Rise Up’ tour this autumn. Alongside the release of their new single the line-up will include; the amazing dynamic and velvety tones of Jackie Walters on backing vocals, Phil Sykes on Keys and backing vocals, Jonathan Bannister funk on Bass, and talented jazz, funk fusion guitarist Stuart Thomas, Ben Wilson on drums and special guest brass performances. Influences include Stevie wonder, Nina Simone, Eva Cassidy, Michael Kiwanuka, Beth Hart. The majority of the set are all originals peppered with a few interesting covers.

Emma Linney has received a lot of airplay in the last 2 years and the band featured on BBC introducing live performance for BBC music day. Emma Linney band has been supported by MAS records alongside RML studios to produce their next EP this year. Their latest single ‘Rise Up’ will be released in early November 2021.

Their Rise Up single is a real nod to the retro, dreamy soulful warm feels of 60’s 70’s style soul track and features Bryan Corbett on trumpet and trombone. As well performing under his own name, Bryan has been performing and recording for world renowned artists and bands such as The Brand New Heavies, Ben E King, Beverley Knight, Ruby Turner, Jocelyn brown, Funk De Nite and the list goes into a who's who in the jazz world. He has certainly sprinkled some magic onto this latest track.

Emma has toured with the iconic internationally acclaimed songwriter Jane Siberry, and has performed alongside Kiki Dee to a sell-out audience in London and at a sell- out show in Theatre Severn alongside the Wales male voice choir. Emma has performed and collaborated with Dan Cassidy (Eva Cassidy’s brother) who co-produced and features on their single release ‘Breakable’.

Quotes

“This is an artist who is truly special. She has it all, songwriting skills, vocals that are exceptional live just as much as they are recorded. After having experienced Emma Linney live as a solo artist, one is taken a back in awe of the reverberating sound that fills the room with a warm and exhilarating feel”

Nicola Hardman Director of We Want Women.

"beautiful, heart-warming, introspective, personal and inviting.  The music shares with you an offer of a journey. A journey suggested by Emma, yet your own journey shared in that moment."
